Diego is a driven, free-spirited individual who has a great affinity and passion for technology and design. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and has a postgraduate degree in Business from Massey University in New Zealand. This insatiable appetite for knowledge pushes his personal development and professionalism within his areas of expertise. Sharp criticism, accompanied with his witty helpfulness, encourages those within his sphere of influence to grow with him.
This is evident in his deep familiarity with trending topics such as cryptocurrency and climate change. He has not only curated early discussions and consultations in these fields but also participated in the Hack4Climate hackathon in 2017 and together with his teammates, presented at the UN COP23 conference as a top 5 finalist. He continues to assist in organizations such as Junior Chamber International (JCI), being a core member of The Green Ambassador’s project, and behind the scenes in Suriname-based hackathons and conferences. In 2022, he became an alumni of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI).
As a Creative Explorer with over 15 years of experience in design, highly engaging photography and visual storytelling, he is extremely passionate about capturing the human element. In 2020, audio caught his attention and birthed the Confoes Podcast, a personal media project, covering entrepreneurship, creativity, personal finance and self-development. As an On Deck Fellowship alumni, he engages a wide range of guests and feeds a community of self-motivated creatives to reach their highest potential.
The podcast further grew into a media production studio called Confoes Studios. He is also a certified Notion professional and founded notion.sr to build tailored automation solutions and databases.
Diego is happy to call Suriname home where, more than likely, he can be found brewing a cup of Japanese Sencha.
